FAQ about BYOIP
How will I manage my own IP addresses after the migration?
We do not provide IP address management through the Colobridge platform’s panel, but you can distribute your addresses across services as you see fit. If you are using a public cloud, subnets will be available, and in the case of working with a private cloud, virtual local area networks (VLANs) will be provided.
How does BYOIP help protect IP address reputation?
Using your own IP addresses after migration to a new platform (including the Colobridge platform) helps preserve the reputation of businesses that handle sensitive data, such as personal, financial, medical, biometric, and other information. With the BYOIP service, you can avoid the risks associated with using new IP addresses that may be blacklisted or blocked by certain services.
Is reverse DNS configuration supported for BYOIP?
Yes, it is supported. This ensures that your IP addresses comply with the requirements of email services and other services where reverse DNS (rDNS) is important.
Is the BYOIP service suitable for Private and Public Cloud?
Both Public and Private Clouds are fully compatible with BYOIP. This allows you to use your own address space in both public and isolated cloud environments, effectively managing their resources.
What is the difference between BYOAS and BYOIP?
BYOAS (Bring Your Own Autonomous System), like BYOIP, is related to managing network resources in cloud infrastructure. The key difference with BYOAS is that it allows clients to bring their own autonomous system and fully manage it within the cloud service provider’s network. This involves not only transferring IP addresses but also the ability to manage routing rules, thus maintaining full control over network traffic. BYOAS is necessary for organizations that manage complex geo-distributed networks across multiple regions/providers. On the other hand, BYOIP is mainly used by companies that want to move their public IP addresses for use in the cloud without changing DNS records and without losing their digital reputation.
What should I do if I need to migrate IP addresses to multiple regions?
The Colobridge platform supports global routing for BYOIP, allowing our clients to use their own IP addresses in multiple regions simultaneously. This is especially useful for companies offering their services worldwide. If needed, our specialists will assist with configuring network traffic routing and integrating IP addresses into a distributed IT infrastructure. We also provide support for migrating IP addresses for critical workloads.
